The NBU reported on the status of international reserves of Ukraine

International reserves of Ukraine on March 1, 2017 amounted to 15,4597 million U.S. dollars, showed growth of $ 15 million for February. About it reports a press-service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

Since the beginning of 2017 the volume of international reserves almost unchanged due to the fact that in February, the Bank was able to compensate for the January expenditures of foreign currency to smooth excessive fluctuations of the dollar in Ukraine.

Replenishment of international reserves during February occurred on the interbank foreign exchange market by conducting foreign exchange auctions and foreign exchange interventions in the form of a request a better rate. Due to the gradual increase in foreign currency revenues from exports and higher prices for Ukrainian exports on global markets in February saw excess supply of currency on the interbank market. In General, the net purchase of foreign currencies by the national Bank amounted to 80.9 million dollars by results of a month.

In particular, the NBU bought 133,6 million U.S. dollars in February, including $ 100.6 million in foreign exchange auctions and 33 million dollars during interventions in the form of a request a better rate.

The Bank also sold $ 52.7 million during February, including $ 42.7 million in foreign exchange auctions and $ 10 million during interventions in the form of a request a better rate.

At the same time, in February the international reserves were allocated to the implementation of payments on the state debt of Ukraine.

Thus, the payments from the government for servicing and repayment of public debt in foreign currency was allocated funds total amount of $ 62.4 million, including $ 43.4 million – on the servicing and repayment of government bonds denominated in foreign currency. The data do not take into account payments poluchrome payments to the International monetary Fund (IMF).

In February 2017, on payments of the government and the National Bank in favor of the IMF funds were allocated in the amount of 66.5 million United States dollars.

As noted by the NBU, the results of February 2017, the volume of international reserves of Ukraine covering 3.3 months of future imports is sufficient to meet the liabilities and current operations of the government and the national Bank.

We will remind, in January the international reserves of Ukraine amounted to 15,445 billion dollars.

As reported, Ukraine’s international reserves in 2016 increased by 17% to 15,539 billion dollars.

The national Bank of Ukraine expects the growth of international reserves by the end of 2017 to 21.3 billion dollars in 2018 to 27.1 billion dollars.
