In Germany, the center-left social Democrats (SPD) ahead of the political ratings of the conservative Christian democratic Union (CDU/CSU) led by Chancellor Angela Merkel. This is according to the Emnid poll, commissioned by Bild.
The results showed that 33% of voters are ready to support the SPD in the parliamentary elections in September, and it’s one point more than last week. Union CDU/CSU is ready to support 32% of Germans – rating dropped by one point.
In the last four weeks, the rating of the SPD grew by a record 12 points after the former President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz has been named as a candidate for the post of Chancellor from the social Democrats.
The last time the social Democrats won the elections in 2002 when they were led by Gerhard Schroeder.
We will remind, the German version of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo came out with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the cover, which holds the severed head of her rival in the upcoming elections to the Bundestag, former Chairman of the European Parliament Martin Schulz.
