The ex-commander of NATO forces in Europe, called on trump to give Ukraine a weapon

The ex-commander of NATO forces in Europe Philip Breedlove called on the President of the United States Donald trump to give Ukraine weapons. This is stated in his testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on foreign relations, informs a press-service of the upper house of the us Congress – reports Эспрессо.TV.

“The administration trump which understands the value of negotiation from a position of strength, should take the position of an advanced defence against the problem of the Kremlin to NATO. It should fully support Ukraine in the fight against Kremlin aggression. The Obama administration did not want to provide weapons to Ukraine, which is necessary for protection. The new team can avoid the mistakes,” he said.

In addition, Breedlove said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian officials justified the aggression in Ukraine, claiming to protect ethnic Russians and Russian-speaking population, which lives in the Donbas.

Also Breedlove said that the Russian goal is to weaken NATO, the European Union and transatlantic relations. According to Breedlove, the economic sanctions against Russia was introduced as an incentive for Moscow to fulfill obligations under the Minsk agreements, to Russia left the territory of Donbass, and also the sanctions are a response to Russian aggression.

“It would be a sign of weakness, if we weaken the sanctions before Russia will fulfill the terms of the Minsk agreements”, – he said.

In addition, Breedlove stressed the need for enhanced cyber protection, to withstand operations that the Kremlin is conducting against the United States and other countries.

Recall that U.S. Congressman, the head of the Committee on Armed services of the house of representatives Mac Thornberry hopes that the administration of Donald trump will allow the supply of lethal defensive weapons to Ukraine.
