The EU has already decided on the date, when you plan to finally approve a mechanism to suspend visa-free regime with third countries. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze.
Note that from the approval of this mechanism depends on the provision of Ukraine of the visa liberalization regime with EU countries.
“There is already a date, when the EU plans to endorse the mechanism for suspending the visa-free regime, and I think there is every reason, and all the assurances from them that this decision will be decisive,” she said.
As reported, on 15 December 2016, the European Parliament approved the proposals on the mechanism of the temporary suspension of the visa-free regime with third countries. The decision now has to be approved by the EU Council.
The decision about date of introduction of a visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainians will be taken in the framework of inter-institutional negotiations of the European Commission, the European Council and the European Parliament.
The Minister of foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin stated that the abolition of visas for citizens of Ukraine may be held in the spring of 2017.
14 January, the head of delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Hugh Mingarelli said he expects formal approval mechanism for the temporary suspension of the visa-free regime of the European Union with third countries in February-March.
