Two inhabitants of the Kherson rescued from ice captivity in the Delta of the Dnieper. As reported in the press service of the SSES in the Kherson region on Sunday due to ice on the river women were cut off from the mainland of the city on the Big island Potemkin, and one of them abruptly became ill after undergoing earlier surgery.
To save the ladies, rescuers had to get to the island by boat, which was connected with ropes for safety. Sometimes the ice crust was strong enough to carry a person, but the coast ice floes move with the speed of the current.
“The distance to the victim was 800-1000 meters and consisted of downed, sharp, crumpled chunks of ice. But thanks to harmonious actions we brought the woman ashore and handed over to the medics”, — rescuers report. The operation involved 20 people and three cars machinery.
