Babchenko: Two dudes want to descend to the Mariana trench in the Australian apparatus to the glory of the great Russia

Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko said on Facebook, the intention of the Archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), traveler Fyodor Konyukhov and scientist–oceanographer Arthur Chilingarov set on the bottom of the Mariana trench the Russian flag and Orthodox cross, made by lapidary artist Vladimir Mikhailov of relict limestone.

The limestone of the Paleozoic era for the cross was found on the shore of a mountain river Msta in Borovichi district of the Russian Federation, and the age of the stone is about 360 million years. Work on construction of the bathyscaphe, designed for two people, leads the Australian company Ron Allum Deepsea Services under the direction of Ron Allum — Creator of the Deep Sea Challenger.

At the end of June Konyukhov landed on the balloon 160 km from the Australian city of Northam, where he earlier began his journey around the world. Around the planet it orbited for 11 days and set a new world record. A man 65 years old, he is an Archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church.
