At the world economic forum, which opened today in Davos, Switzerland, President Petro Poroshenko and the Ukrainian delegation will hold talks with IMF head Christine Lagarde and new UN Secretary-General antónio Guterres. Comments about this “Segodnya” said the head of the parliamentary Committee on foreign Affairs Anna hopko.
“With Lagarde (head of IMF Christine Lagarde. – Ed.) will be meeting then with the new UN Secretary-General antónio Guterres to determine further steps of its chairmanship, and the fact that Ukraine in February will preside over the UN security Council a month (will discuss the agenda and preparations). Then there will be meetings with representatives of investment companies on attraction of investments in Ukraine, with different policies, the President’s speech during the Davos forum, with the innovators. In General, it is very good that the President is the Forum in Davos, because this is such a economic innovation platform for new technologies to meet with different leaders to discuss the agenda,” said “Segodnia” Anna hopko.
At the same time representatives of the government and the presidential Administration will not be on the so-called informal Ukrainian Breakfast at the world economic forum, which organizes the businessman Victor Pinchuk. “Even former Prime Minister, Yatsenyuk refused. It is obvious that this is correct, because when three weeks before this forum and so-called Breakfast Pinchuk in the influential American publication prints an article, which proposes a scenario of capitulation of Ukraine, in order to test public opinion, etc. Then now this article appears on the official website of the Munich security conference yesterday, it appeared there, then the question arises, who is behind this? What Russian or Pro-Russian forces are in Ukraine to push, forcing this script. It is therefore evident that high-ranking officials should not raise the status of the Ukrainian Breakfast, because it’s not an official event of Davos, is an initiative of the oligarch Pinchuk. So no need to were present the first persons of the state, the President and Vice-premiers”, – summed up Anna hopko.
We will remind, the Ukrainian delegation headed by Poroshenko refused to participate in informal Ukrainian Breakfast, which is held in the framework of the world economic forum in Davos after the article Victor Pinchuk Foundation in The Wall Street Journal. In his article, the businessman has declared that Ukraine is the time to abandon the European integration aspirations, as well as to put an end to the NATO membership. In addition, in his opinion, Ukraine must sacrifice annexed Crimea for peace with Russia, and also to agree to the freezing of the conflict in the Donbas.
Today in Davos, Switzerland opened the world economic forum, which runs until January 20. Ukrainian delegation headed by President Petro Poroshenko has held negotiations with Chairman of the people’s Republic of China XI Jinping, who invited the Ukrainian delegation to the forum on the new Silk road.
It is reported that the President Petro Poroshenko noted that Ukraine is interested to actively participate in the implementation of the initiative of China’s “One belt, one road” and has considerable potential. In turn, XI Jinping has invited Ukrainian delegation to take part in this forum.
