Almost all international experts were surprised by the decision to increase twice the minimum wage in Ukraine. This broadcast “5 channel” said the co-chair of the group of strategic advisors to support reforms in Ukraine Leszek Balcerowicz, reports UNN.
“Not only I was surprised. Almost all international experts because it was unexpected. We didn’t seem to have such calculations, but let’s see what are the results,” he said.
However, he expressed his disagreement with the fact that “a single step can raise the standard of living”.
“No one is failed. How do you manage? If the economy develops at the expense of better conditions for private business. It is necessary to accelerate and has enormous reserves. It could be done faster and the standard of living is also rising faster,” said Balcerowicz.
then, according to him, Ukraine’s position in Europe would be stronger.
“There (in Europe – ed.) looked that despite all these problems, the government is moving ahead … With trust comes political support and foreign investment,” – said the expert.
We will remind, the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has threatened to punish employers who do not comply with the requirements of the law on raising the minimum wage, as well as officials who will abuse the checks.
