Belkovsky: the Police officer who murdered the Russian Ambassador, expressed the views of Erdogan

Police officer mevlüt MERT Altıntaş, who shot the Russian Ambassador in Turkey Andrey Karlov, becomes an ideological symbol for many compatriots, said Russian political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky. This opinion was expressed on air of TV channel “Rain”.

He drew attention to reports that thousands of people came to the funeral of the murderer of a Russian diplomat. “Mevlüt Altıntaş does not Express the point of view of some marginal circles. He expressed the point of view of President Recep Erdogan, who thinks that Russia does not need to intervene in the Syrian conflict and prevent Turkey to implement its plans in Syria. Just there are many factors that prevent Erdogan to say about it,” – said Belkovsky.

There are always radicals that are able to transform such ideas to the crime, said the analyst. He compared the Altıntaş with Yigal Amir, who killed Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. First, the society was affected of what happened, but too late for many Israelis to the fore the ideological motives of the murder, said Belkovsky.

We will remind, the Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkey Andrei Karlov, was killed on 19 December 2016 at the opening of the exhibition at the contemporary art center of Ankara.

The Russian diplomat was shot by a Turkish police officer mevlüt MERT Altıntaş. At the time of the assassination shooter shouted “Allah Akbar. We are dying in Aleppo, you will die here!” Soon he was killed by special forces officers.
