The Ministry of regional development, construction and housing and public utilities is considering a draft state building code, which proposes to reduce the width of lanes in the cities. This was reported in the “Ukravtodor”, reports “Economic truth”.
According to the project “Construction of transport. The streets and roads of settlements” the width of the lanes in towns are provided at the level of 3.0 m in residential streets and driveways – 2,75 m, main hearse in major cities – 3.5 m.
It is noted that today the current construction standards lane width of 3.75 m is foreseen for category I and II roads, 3.50 m – III 3.0 m – IV, and category V the width of the roadway are provided at the level of 4.5 m without dividing it into lanes.
However, in settlements where there is a speed limit of 60 km/h, allowed to narrow the width of traffic lanes to 3.25 m with the establishment of road signs.
In addition, the “Ukravtodor” addresses the issue of reducing speed when entering towns, by furnishing means forced reduction.
We will remind, “Ukravtodor” proposes to reduce the speed limit in towns and villages from the current 60 km/h to 50 km/h. This speed of movement is accepted in all EU countries and recommended by the world health organization. Exactly when driving 50 km/h the driver has time to react to pedestrians on the road and to brake in time.
