Swiss President promised to help with the refund of ex-officials in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with President of the Swiss Confederation, Doris Leuthard. About it reports a press-service of the President of Ukraine.

The heads of state noted that over the 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Ukraine laid a solid Foundation for bilateral partnership, and stressed the existence of common interest to further deepen this mutually beneficial cooperation.

The President of Ukraine briefed on the escalation in the Donbas. Poroshenko drew attention Leuthard to the complex humanitarian situation in connection with the Russian shelling of Avdeevka. The head of state stressed that such behaviour should be duly appreciated by the international community.

The President of Switzerland, in turn, noted that Russia should do everything to stop the fire in the Donbass.

Leuthard also evaluated the progress in implementing reforms in Ukraine, which increases investor confidence in the Ukrainian economy, and reaffirmed its readiness to support Ukraine on this path, in particular the issue of judicial reform.

During a call, also agreed further steps to accelerate the return to Ukraine of funds that were illegally removed by former high-ranking Ukrainian officials, and are now stored in Swiss banks.
