The President of Ukraine signed the decree No. 178/2017, according to which in the next month the army will take young people aged from 20 to 27 years who are not eligible for a deferment. It was initially planned that following the call for military service will be held in October-November this year, however, the President decided to move the date. Thus, in August, Ukrainians will take to serve in the National guard, and at the end of the year in the National guard, armed forces and State special transport service. Since the last call was only a month
In April and may for military service in the army took more than 14 thousand Ukrainians. 9 135 in the Armed forces of Ukraine, 4 200 in the National guard and 800 people – in the Public special service of transport. Recently the President instructed the government to develop a regulation on the number of recruits and the budget of the recruiting campaign in August. It should be noted that last year financial assistance to the conscripts were issued in the amount of two minimum wages (currently it is 6400 UAH), however, after the decision to increase the minimum payout is two times the minimum wage made a decision to give the two a living wage.
Who can call in the army in August:
- Men aged 20 to 27 years
- Fit state of health
- Without a criminal record
- Not passed military service
In addition to the call for military service in may we also began the conscription of Ukrainians with higher education who graduated from the military Department. Reserve officers are considered “fit” to 43 years. As conscripts, they have to serve a year and a half. “We have had no problems with the calling of reserve officers. Recruited thousands of people, selection completed,” – said a few weeks ago, the Minister of defence Stepan Poltorak. As conscripts, to send recruits “diplomas” in the combat zone will be only at own will and after they will be trained. Interestingly, the call affected not only men but also women. All the service called about four thousand reserve officers. Thus, only in the first half of the year the army took more than 16 thousand people, there is still two call – August and October-November.

For evasion from an appeal on military service (article 335 of the CCU) is threatened by restriction of liberty for a term up to three years. As for the Ukrainians, who graduated from the military Department, to whom to give respite, solves a special certification Commission at the regional military Commissariat. Grounds for deferment can be family situations, health and education.
