The chances of granting to Ukraine of American lethal weapons are growing.
This was stated by former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst in an interview with “Apostrophe”.
Herbst said the President of the United States Donald trump wants to improve relations with Russia and Ukraine in this respect is a significant issue. And to persuade Russia to compromise, the United States could strengthen Ukraine.
Also, according to the diplomat, trump himself understands that Russia must stop its military actions against Ukraine. Herbst added that the provision of lethal weapons Ukraine will not provoke even more aggression of the Kremlin.
“[…] the Russian people do not want their soldiers fighting in Ukraine. Therefore, Putin has to hide the fact that Russia’s official military personnel not “on vacation”, but really fighting in Ukraine. And if he will arrange for escalation, all it will see, there will be more casualties among Russian soldiers,” – said the diplomat.
