Poland instead of Ukraine in the UN security Council: the Donbass – one of the priorities

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski said that for his country during its membership in the UN security Council one of the priorities will be the resolution of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. He said this in comments to the newspaper Gazeta prawna.

“The security Council, as the name implies, deals with processes of war and peace. We immediately enter into processes which proceed, and, of course, will work to resolve the Syrian crisis, the middle East and other conflicts that may occur prior to the entry into force of our authority in January 2018. We will also deal with a conflict that is closer to our borders – Russian-Ukrainian conflict,” – said Waszczykowski.

The Minister stressed that regional issues will be particularly important for Poland, and that “the Russian-Ukrainian conflict should be on the agenda.”
Waszczykowski also said that Poland wants to join the reform of the UN to the security Council and the whole organization became more influential in the world.

As reported, on the eve of the UN General Assembly voted for the new non-permanent members of the security Councilwho will serve for two years. Among them côte d’ivoire, Kuwait, Poland, Peru, Equatorial Guinea and the Netherlands.
