Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said that the defence budget of Ukraine should be doubled to increase the country’s defense. He said this during the “hour of questions” to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, reports NewsOne.
Groisman wants to increase the budget for defense and security to 260 billion hryvnia.
“I want to stress that we have today 130 billion UAH of the budget of the Ukrainian troops, our security and defense, but I believe that the best applause is the doubling of the defense budget of our country”, – said the Prime Minister.
At the same time, he stressed that to increase expenditure on the army, you must first pull the economy.
As was stated by the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, on defense and security in 2017 in Ukraine has allocated an unprecedented budget of more than 5% of GDP.
