Putin threatens Russia with “Arab spring”

Most observers do not pay enough attention to the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the opposition demonstrations that swept Russian cities. The official Russian media have completely ignored the fact demonstrations for five days before Vladimir Putin came out personally and said something that could be called one of the most honest statements in his political history.

Commenting on the demonstrations, Putin said that “we know very well, and I do want to note that this tool (illegal protest) were used in the beginning of the so-called “Arab spring.” What bloody events in the middle East it led to — we know very well”.

Obviously, Putin threatens Russian citizens that public demonstrations to demand change will lead to bloodshed in Russia. In this sense, it acts the same way as did its ally President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. It is also quite clear that Putin is not connected with the “bloody events” in the middle East with the emergence of Islamist movements, extremist or more moderate. He does not associate what happened in the Arab countries from the aggression of notorious terrorists against citizens and governments, forcing the latter to protect their institutions. It all fits in the fairy tale of Putin, Assad and their allies about the events of the “Arab spring”.

The President of Russia binds the bloody events in the middle East only with the people’s demonstrations, in which people were called upon to fight and eliminate corruption, demanding democratic reforms from the corrupt ruling elite. These changes demanded last week the Russians. Changes which, in Putin’s opinion, result in “bloody events,” as in Syria and Libya.

Putin’s statements about the popular protests in Russia, where people spoke for change, was extremely honest. His comments were focused on two points: the requirement of people changes and the “bloody events”. They never mentioned anything about the other side of the “Arab spring”: the sincere desires of the people, calling on the government to change and eliminate bribery. But the response of corrupt officials on these calls steel tanks, fighter jets and chemical weapons. When victims of corruption have tried to defend themselves, the society attacked them, the world accused them of terrorism. Further work has begun on restoration of the image of corrupt Arab authorities in which they appeared as “partners in fighting terrorism”.

Putin’s statements were not well thought out and turned out to be spontaneous, and therefore honest. The President of Russia, will probably find to some extent the similarity of his regime with the regimes of the Arab countries with which it cooperates and which protects. The same model is sold in Russia, Syria and Egypt, to a lesser extent in Lebanon, and even in the United States.

Putin puts Russians before a choice: either he and his team remain in power or Russian people will be satisfied with the “Arab spring” with waterfalls of blood. In Syria, the “Shabiha” (Pro-government military units — approx. TRANS.) from the first day of the Syrian revolution said, or Assad, or we burn the country. In Egypt, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his aides repeated: either military rule and corruption, or terrorism and bloodshed. In Lebanon for many years, then-candidate and now President Michel Aoun themselves and the allied forces destroyed their own state. In the United States Donald trump threatened that he would not accept the election results if he loses, and, waving his hands, said that his supporters will take up arms and headed to the headquarters of the Republican party if his nomination as a presidential candidate will not be nominated.

Model in all countries is the same, although the degree of bloodlust and corruption of their rulers varies: head of intelligence threatens the people, imposing their arrival or stay in power. During his reign, the ruling “bandit” and his cronies illegally enrich themselves obscenely. The people are satisfied with demonstrations against corruption, calling for changes. The authorities resorted to violence against people, including arrests and murders, then sends forces to suppress the protests by shooting them from helicopters or snipers, using tanks and fighter jets, eventually reaching an extreme measure as the use of chemical weapons of mass destruction. This violence from the top, combined with the accumulation of funds in the hands of the chief and his assistants, which they keep in banks Islands, is one and the same model is working throughout history, whether we are talking about the Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie, dictator Ceausescu of Romania, Putin, Assad or someone else.

But from the height of all his power and the power of rulers like Putin, Assad or al-Sisi was always afraid of his people. Maybe they read what I wrote one day, Ahmed Fouad Negm (Egyptian poet-dissident, “the voice of the Egyptian revolution” — approx. TRANS.). “It is true that the people — the vile son of a bitch. He can overturn the throne in a matter of seconds”.
