The European Union will closely monitor the impact on civilians of the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to suspend the movement of goods through the line of collision in a combat zone.
Commented on the decision of the Council of national security and defense Council of Ukraine, the speaker of the Foreign diplomatic service Maya Kosyanchich.
“We will closely monitor the effects of this decision to the civilian population,” she said.
The speaker stressed that the Minsk agreements remain the basis for peaceful and sustainable settlement of the conflict in the East of Ukraine. “Their provisions, in particular those concerning the ceasefire, withdrawal of heavy weapons, recovery of socio-economic relations between individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions and the rest of the country, as well as taxation under the Ukrainian legislation, must be respected by all parties,” – said Kosyanchich.
The press Secretary also assured that the EU continues to fully support the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
As reported, on 15 March, the Council adopted a decision on the termination of freight traffic in the occupied part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
