Old cars from Russia are now under the ban: the Cabinet has closed the loophole for import

Despite the restrictions, Ukrainian companies continued to buy Russian cars

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine banned the import into the customs territory of the country railway cars, the previous owners of which were resident-enterprises of the Russian Federation or previously assigned to the train service of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet.

The ban is in effect until December 31, 2020. It applies to those cars that belong or belonged to the Russian Federation from February 20, 2014.

“By the decree of Cabinet of Ministers from December 30, 2015 No. 1147 has already introduced a ban for importto the customs territory of Ukraine railway wagons that were in use and imported in the customs regime of imports originating from the Russian Federation. However, last November, of the legal persons-residents of Ukraine was purchased 1165 cars the country of origin which was not the Russian Federation. Previous owner 608 cars were the companies-residents of the Russian Federation, and 15 cars were in the ownership of enterprises-residents of the Russian Federation in 2014. That such rolling stock is also subject to the ban, we have made the appropriate changes to the decision”, – stated in the message of the government.
