Svenska Dagbladet (Sweden): in California legalized racism

The most famous part of the American Declaration of independence was written by Thomas Jefferson (Thomas Jefferson): “We consider self-evident truth that all men are created equal, that the Creator has endowed them with certain inalienable rights such as the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

Even his contemporaries doubted whether it is not paradoxical statement, because at the Jefferson owned slaves. No, Jefferson wasn’t perfect, but his words were used as an argument in favor of prohibition of slavery — first in some States and then all over the United States, when that phrase again said Abraham Lincoln.

Continue to use it now. Also relevant is the idea and Christian faith in the fact that the European colonial state with great losses to themselves caused the Nations of Africa, the Middle East and Asia to abolish slavery. Unfortunately, slavery in these regions still exists, despite these efforts. At the same time, neither the United States nor anyone else was not able fully to realize these high ideals. Racism and inequality have always existed as a kind of parallel reality.

What is happening in the U.S., as it affects much of the rest of the world. The purpose of the cultural revolution, which now swept the country, to achieve equality before the law. In California, the most populous state, Congress recently voted overwhelmingly for the abolition of the prohibition of discrimination on racial, gender or ethnic origin. This was opposed by only two Republicans. “Is it fair to give someone a job just because he is white, black or yellow?— asked Republican Steven Choi (Steven Choi), who himself was born in South Korea, when the country was occupied by Japan. We’re talking about the legalization of racism and sexism. I came to this country to get away from this way of thinking”.

And this is one of the strangest paradoxes of our time: those who call themselves fighters against racism, to do everything possible to ensure the conditions for racial discrimination. The main thing is to suffer “right” group of people.

To achieve equal distribution of resources between different groups, it is necessary to discriminate against those for whom things are now going well. In reality will discriminate against those who do well on someone’s opinion, or those who have been well informed. Many Americans with leftist views have ceased to believe that they can come to the colorblind non-sexist society. Society is so rotten and filled with corruption that requires something radically different. Coup. The revolution should be headed by young people, not tainted by old patterns of thinking which are characteristic of the oppressors. “White superiority” permeates all around, it lurks even of seemingly neutral linguistic expressions, claiming racial harassment.

In Seattle, the white employees of the municipality — only the white! — made courses designed to “counter the domestic racial white arrogance”. They are talking about phenomena which reveal racial oppression, for example, ideas about “fairness” and “security”, and “individualism” and “intellectualization”. White urge to admit that they are racists, and then refuse to violate their own “whiteness”. Even just admitting that you’re wrong, you can start the process that someday (maybe) will get you “corrected”. It said so in the sect Knutby (the infamous Swedish religious sect — approx. transl.).

Just as in the case of the Maoist cultural revolution in China, little is necessary to poison the started you. Yasha Munch (Yascha Mounk) in The Atlantic told how people have lost their jobs because of some nonsense. One analyst tweeted that peaceful demonstrations will allow the Democrats to receive more votes, while violent protests after the assassination of Martin Luther king’s increased support for Richard Nixon. Less than a week, he was fired. Others lost their jobs when spoken in the spirit of “all lives matter” or in some other way refused to assimilate the revolutionary jargon.

Now we are witnessing a confrontation between two diametrically opposed notions of justice. On the one hand, the idea that all groups should always be represented in proportion to their share in the population. The value of a man reduced to his belonging to one group or another. On the other hand, the idea that people need to evaluate the same way regardless of origin, starting only from their competence. In other words, to treat all persons equally.

Not only in society but in the heart of the science of identity politics begins to take precedence. It’s not what you say, and who says exactly that. The scientific group now form, taking into account gender and skin color. The movement #ShutdownSTEM and #ShutdownAcademia, which began amid protests Black Lives Matter, questioned whether all objective science. Science and Nature, some of the most prestigious scientific journals in the world, have published the appeal, in which accused themselves in the systematic racism against black people. No evidence was provided that such admission check do not need. Anyone who tries to figure out what is truth in these claims, will lose their jobs or chase him with pitchforks from the village. Well, or banned Twitter and Facebook, perhaps, can be considered a modern analogue.

We in Sweden have the same motion and the same trends. Cunning and government organizations are looking for ways to circumvent the ban on quotas to “improve” the sexual relationship and promoting diversity. Because until then, yet discriminated against the “right” group, there is no danger.

And exactly what is immutable (skin color, gender, age, sexual orientation, and so on), which, according to the principle of equality should not be ignored, becomes a decisive factor when we cease to believe in meritocracy. Perhaps it would be more honest to do the same as in California. If we still have more don’t believe in equal treatment for all, maybe not worth pretending.
