The national guard is not allowed to search the Ukrainians: Rada rejected the draft law

The initiative “public servants” Maxim Pavlyuk scored only 179 votes

Employees of the National guard will not receive police powers – at an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the second for today, voted against the extension of their powers.

So, deputies rejected in its first reading the bill No. 3105 “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine concerning improvement of the legal basis of activities of National guard of Ukraine”. This initiative has gained only 179 votes.

Rada voted against sending the bill to prepare for the repeated first reading and for revision.

The author of the legislative initiative the Deputy Maksym Pavlyuk (“servant of the people”) offered to strengthen the law enforcement functions of national guardsmento allow them to draw up protocols on administrative offences, to carry out personal inspection, examination of things, to withdraw the weapon, to provide access to registers and databases of the interior Ministry and the like.

Previously, the Committee on law enforcement recommended the Parliament to consider this bill.

As noted in the explanatory Memorandum to the bill, the National guard is often attracted to the protection of public order, but it has no police powers to draw up protocols on administrative offences, and to take other appropriate measures, such as detention and custody of offenders in police departments, and implementation of their personal inspection and inspection of their belongings.

Recall that last month, when the Chernobyl exclusion zone blazed large-scale forest fires, the National guard conducted anti-diversionary operation.
