The validity of sanctions against “Vkontakte”, “Classmates” and other sites will expire on 15 may

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted at the extraordinary parliamentary session on may 13 for the extension of sanctions on the Russian social media sites.

For this resolution No. 3319 of the people’s Deputy from fraction “the Voice” of the Novel Lozinski voted 248 deputies, after which the extraordinary meeting was closed.

The ban on Russian social networks comes to an end: whether to prolong sanctions

It is worth noting that the ban on Russian websites and social networks in Ukraine expires on may 15. But these powers are in the hands not of Parliament, and head of state.

Earlier that same day, the Council of national security and defense voted to extend the restrictive measures and submitted the relevant draft decree of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

At the same time, according to a member of the Board of the “Internet Association of Ukraine” Konstantin Gakona, despite the ban, “Classmates”, “Vkontakte” and “Yandex” in varying degrees, are “first-second ten the most visited resources in Ukraine”, which indicates the inefficiency of the methods of resistance.

Recall that the web resources of “Vkontakte”, “Classmates” and Mail.ru are banned from 2017. The website “Today” understood, does Ukraine need Russian social networks and why they can be very dangerous.
