The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has proposed that from 2018 to 2025 to increase excise rates on cigarettes from 21 euros to 90 euros per thousand pieces. That is stated in the bill No. 7110-1, which is registered in the Verkhovna Rada on September 18.
The document proposes an increase over 7 years in 20% of the minimum excise tax liability of payment of excise tax on tobacco products.
According to the text of the bill, in 2018, the excise rate per thousand cigarettes will increase from EUR 21 to EUR 25,84. Gradually, the tax rate will increase annually and in 2025 will rise to 90 euros per thousand pieces.
We will remind, according to experts, this level of tax deductions would lead to a substantial increase in the price of cigarettes in Ukraine – the price of a pack of the cheapest tobacco products by 2025 could reach 80-90 UAH.
