Scientists from the French National Institute for agricultural research found that regular consumption of grapefruit juice prevents the development of cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, this effect has only fresh juice – containing compounds flavones, reports med2.ru.
In the new study involved 48 healthy women aged from 50 to 65 years who are at risk of cardiovascular diseases. Half of the women drank daily for 340 millilitres of grapefruit juice, rich flavanone, while the rest drank the same drink, but without organic substances. After a few months, the groups switched. The research lasted six months.

After six months of regular consumption of grapefruit juice were estimated elasticity of blood vessels women. The study showed that fresh juice had a positive impact on the condition of the blood vessels participating in the experiment. And women who consumed the juice without flavonones, almost no change was observed.
However, experts warn that people already suffer from diseases of the heart and blood vessels, drinking grapefruit juice with caution. Drugs that reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels-they take the juice in a reaction that increases the risk of side effects.
