Russia will respond to Ukraine on the introduction of biometric border control. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee on freedom of speech and information policy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Victoria syumar.
“We must now appeal to the Prime Minister, because you know about the introduction of new rules of border crossing by citizens of the Russian Federation decision of the Council of national security and defense, there are certain aspects related to border territories… still, it is necessary to amend the resolution on these local crossings and to resolve this issue, there to create difficulties,” – said syumar.
According to her, in the border areas in one settlement live as citizens of Ukraine and Russia.
“They live in Ukraine, work in Russia, because the border runs along the same road,” she said.
“Russia definitely will answer a significant complication of crossing the border of Ukraine and those regions for which relevant today interaction with their families, families – it requires separate handling and decisions of the Cabinet”, – believes the Deputy.

Recall, September 1 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed decree № 256/2017, which enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense dated July 10, “On strengthening the control of entry to Ukraine, departure from Ukraine of foreigners and persons without citizenship, compliance with the rules of stay on the territory of Ukraine”.
According to the document, the NSDC instructed the Cabinet of Ministers within one month to ensure the implementation, with the participation of SBU comprehensive measures to strengthen control over the entry to Ukraine, departure from Ukraine of foreigners, including citizens of the Russian Federation, compliance with the rules of stay on the territory of Ukraine.
The government is also mandated to take measures on improving the legislation on the procedure of registration of residence/stay in Ukraine of foreigners, including Russian citizens and stateless persons, which originate from States of migration risk or entered Ukraine from the territory of such States.
According to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers should update the list of countries of migration risk, particularly to make it Russia.
The government also needs to work in two months the question about the mechanism and phasing of introduction of preliminary electronic communications of foreigners, including Russians entry and exit from Ukraine.
In addition, the government should start operating from 1 January 2018 national system of biometric verification and identification of citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and persons without citizenship, having decided the question of necessary resources provision of fixing of biometric data of foreigners, including citizens of the Russian Federation and persons without citizenship in the implementation of border control at checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine and control entry points and exits.
