The EU is going to extend sanctions against Russia: the named date

The European Union intends to extend sanctions against Russia for the aggression of Russia against Ukraine on September 14. Comments about this “UNIAN” said a senior European diplomat.

It is expected that the EU Council will approve the extension of sanctions to individuals and companies, whose actions were aimed against Ukraine.

According to him, the decision will be approved at the meeting of the EU Council for justice and internal Affairs without discussion, paragraph “A” by written procedure. The validity of existing sanctions expire on September 15.

It is noted that this first question must be approved by the Committee of permanent representatives of EU member States (COREPER). Its first meeting will be held on 6 September, and then the 13th.

Recall, 13 March 2017, the Council of the European Union until September 15, 2017, extended the sanctions against 150 people and 37 organizations from Ukraine and Russia that threaten the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Note that this procedure was repeated several times.
