Ukraine will issue credit for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists

The European investment Bank (EIB) is exploring the possibility of submitting loan to Ukraine for investments in infrastructure related to road safety in Kiev, Odessa, Lviv, Dnipro and Kharkiv.

The loan will Finance the infrastructure of urban transport with the aim of improving road safety particularly for vulnerable road users – pedestrians and cyclists.

“In addition to improving road safety and reducing the number of accidents investment can reduce the indirect financial costs associated with poor road safety, therefore, will positively affect economic development of regions”, – noted in the EIB.

The amount of the proposed financing from the EIB amounts to EUR 75 million, the total cost of the project is 177 million euros.

We will remind, the EIB is also considering the provision of Kharkov the loan of 160 million euros for the extension of the Alexis line of city underground.
