The foreign Ministry called upon Ukrainians not to visit in the near future Egypt

In connection with today’s attack on tourists in Hurghada Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine urges Ukrainian citizens to reconsider their plans to visit Egypt.

As reported by the press service of the foreign Ministry, Ukrainians are advised to refrain unless absolutely necessary to travel in this country, including for tourism purposes, for the duration of the state of emergency.

“These warnings are caused by a significant rise in Egypt of radical terrorist groups, including ISIL, increasingly guides the terrorist attacks against civilians based on their religious affiliation,” said the Agency.

Those citizens who are already in Egypt, it is recommended to take into account the existing risks of further stay in the territory of that state and adhere to the following tips:

it is not recommended to travel and to reside in the North and in the Central part of the Sinai Peninsula and the desert regions to the West of the valley of the river Nile;

be vigilant when visiting the North coast of Egypt, the country’s capital and the Delta of the river Nile, tourist places in its valley, the red sea coast (resorts of Hurghada, El Gouna, Safaga, Makadi Bay and Soma Bay) and the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula (the resort cities of Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, Taba).

“If staying in the resort areas of Egypt, we strongly recommend to pay special attention and caution, to refrain from travel outside of the facilities for organized recreation, which are under the protection and supervision of the security forces. In the case of urgent need of travel outside of the facilities for organized recreation, citizens should notify the hotel, relatives or representatives of the tour operator”, – stated in the message of the foreign Ministry.

With the aim of obtaining information about events which may affect security in the area, we highly recommend you to follow the news in the local media and news resources of the MFA of Ukraine and Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt (www.mfa.gov.ua, www. egypt.mfa.gov.ua).

Also recommended to be especially cautious during the celebrations in Egypt religious (including Christian) holidays, and, if possible, to refrain from visiting religious shrines.

In the case of a sharp aggravation of the situation, must strictly follow the instructions of the officials responsible for security at the place of residence. Citizens are advised to keep areas of the passport documents, money and things that you will need in case of emergency leaving the residence.

As reported by Reuters with reference to the representative of security service of the region of the red sea, today in the attack armed with a knife man at the resort in Hurghada was killed two citizens of Germany, and four other tourists injured, two of them – citizens of the Czech Republic. At first it was reported that the deceased woman – a citizen of Ukraine.
