Ukraine may enter the world market of electric vehicles – Omeljan

Ukraine can successfully enter the market of electric vehicles. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelian in an interview with “Today”.

“If Ukraine wants to develop the car industry, better to go the way of China. There’s a long time invested in the production of cars. But realized that can’t compete with the Germans. China switched to a market of electric cars, which quickly became the world’s leading manufacturer. And Ukraine may enter the market of electric cars,” said Omeljan.

According to him, the Ministry communicated with domestic manufacturers of cars in the process of drafting of the law on electric car and explained that it is planned to develop 15-year strategy with the establishment of production in Ukraine. “Everyone liked the idea,” said Omeljan.

The Minister also said that Ukraine should reduce the cost of customs clearance of foreign cars is, in his opinion, solve the problem of long queues at the border.

We will remind, Omeljan also said that the Ministry of infrastructure hopes to build a transport corridor connecting Ukraine and the EU. “European motorways that end at the Western border of Ukraine should continue in the country”, – said the Minister.
