The total amount of arrears of wages in Ukraine in may 2017, increased by 6.2% since the beginning of the year and by June 1 was 2.32 billion.
According to official statistics, the amount of arrears of wages of economically active enterprises increased in may to 10.2% on June 1 of the current year amounted to 1,25 billion UAH.
The growth of wage arrears in the last month was recorded in Volyn (53.7%), Ivano-Frankivsk (by 39.3%), Cherkasy (29.9%), Donetsk (22.4%), Vinnytsia (17.2%), Rivne (15.5%), Poltava (12.5%), Kharkiv (7.8%), Dnipropetrovsk (7.6%), Kherson (by 6.7%), Transcarpathian (2.7%) regions and in Kyiv (1.3%).
The arrears of wages in may fell in Chernivtsi (37.5%), Kirovohrad (6%), Luhansk (by 5.1%), Lviv (2.5%), Ternopil (by 2.3%), Sumy (1.3%), Zaporizhzhya (1%) regions.
By early June, more than three-quarters of the amount of the debt of economically active enterprises accounted for the industry (77,2%). With more than half of the debt formed in Donetsk (31,6%), Luhansk (13.2%), and Cherkasy (9.7 per cent) areas.
In may 2017, the arrears of wages increased in health care — 10.2% (up to 12,725 million UAH), information and telecommunications — 9.3% (to 4.4 million), administrative and support services — by 8.2% (to 9.7 million UAH), industry — by 8% (up to 1,761 billion UAH), financial and insurance activities — by 3.6% (to 16.6 million UAH), agriculture, fisheries and forestry — 3,2% (up to UAH 21.6 million), in professional, scientific and technical activities by 2.6% (to 116, 4 million UAH), construction — by 2.5% (to 83 million UAH), in the field of public administration and defense — 1.7% (3.9 million), the transportation, the warehousing, postal and courier activities 1.3 (up to 211,3 million UAH).
This reduction of wage arrears was observed in the spheres of art, sport, entertainment — to 84.6% (to 1.1 million UAH) education 9.4% (5.5 million), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles — 2.1% (18 million UAH), temporary accommodation and food — by 1.5% (to UAH 2.1 million).
