English writer Michael bond, the author of a series of books about Paddington bear, has died at the age of 91, reports the TV channel “112 Ukraine” with reference to the BBC.
According to his publisher Harper Collins, the writer died at his home in London after a short illness.
Writing stories, Michael bond began in 1945, the first of them was published in the magazine London Opinion. His first book, the writer published in 1958, this was the story of Paddington bear. Then, bond worked as a cameraman at the BBC.
Since then, bond wrote a further 19 books about Paddington.
In 1997 he received the Order of the British Empire for her contribution to children’s literature.
The first book about Paddington bear have been translated into more than 30 languages of the world. Her character is a bear who came from darkest Peru to England. His story begins at Paddington station in London, near which lived a long time myself bond.
