The possibility of Russian gas pipeline “Nord stream – 2”, laid bypassing Ukraine, said that Europe’s economic interests prevail over the rule of law. About this today during the Second Polish-Ukrainian gas conference was declared by the Deputy Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Igor Prokopiv.
Thus, according to the Deputy Minister, Russia is now financing the construction of “Nord stream – 2” by itself, without support from the EU. In addition, the actual construction has not begun, there is only the Russian side’s statements about the plans, said Prokopiv.
The Ukrainian side, in turn, sees the solution to the only question in cooperation with the European Union, in particular with the countries through which will pass “Northern stream – 2”.
“We need to be more active and to bring their views to Brussels,” said Prokopiv.
We will remind, the project “Northern stream – 2” involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. The pipeline is planned to be build next to the “Nord stream”.
As noted by the Chairman of the Board “Gazprom” Alexander Medvedev, the capital cost of the “Nord stream-2” is expected at 8 billion euros, however, together with the cost of borrowing the amount can reach 9.9 billion euros.
