Where until recently was one of the biggest Soviet military polygon — almost 25 thousand hectares and almost half of the territory occupied bombodrom grew 8 neat lodges — and ethnolo Bessarabia, Odessa region reached the first tourists.
June is a landmark month for the ethnographic Museum under the open sky “Bessarabian village frumusica-Nova”. In 1946 the last of the displaced families leave Frumusica during forced evictions. 60 years later, 6.06.2006 G., the revival of the village, located about 200 km from Odessa and 20 km from the border with the Republic of Moldova.
Frumusica — “pretty” with Moldovan. This place is in the tarutinsky district of Odessa region, in the Bessarabian steppes. Bessarabia was annexed by Soviet Union according to the Molotov — Ribbentrop Pact in 1939. Then the war… And residents, barely recovered from the shocks, get a new challenge. Five villages, where compactly lived thousands of people — Moldovans, Gagauz, Bulgarians, Jews, Ukrainians; just razed to the ground.
THE VILLAGE AS A GIFT TO THE FATHER
The house was falling apart, the tanks in front of the villagers below had nowhere to return. With all evicted and the family of the father of Alexander Palariev.
“Connected by ropes to the building and two tanks. Cars slithered sideways and literally split in half structure. So did the house of my father Andrew Diomidovich Palariev, who was born here in 1933,” says the “Today” Alexander.
Senior Palariev told how they survived the Romanian occupation, that in his village there were more than three thousand people and two churches. And each time was shown the place where once stood his house.
Once the family came back to the former landfill to celebrate the birthday of Andrei Diomidovich, and in the family circle Palariev decided to revive the parental home. And next to build a house of all nationalities, who lived in Bessarabia! With all the utensils and furniture of the XIX—XX centuries. So there etnolo Museum Frumoasa (but with the prefix Nova) as a gift to the father and to all the people who once evicted from these places.
“Our wine cellar was one of the first three buildings of Frumushika Nova in 2006. From June 6, simultaneously built winter quarters for 1200 sheep (the sheep farm), the first blue house sheep breeder, and he is also a wine cellar,” says Alexander us.
Most importantly — cellar. No issue was decided without a glass of good wine
HOME FOR ESCAPE…
Administrator Svetlana Serikova offers visitors to visually compare the traditional courtyards of the Moldavians, Jews, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Germans and Gagauzes. The tiled roof was only the Germans and the Jews, all the rest — from straw and reeds.
The Germans built the most extensive and long home, and the Jews — with two or three exits on different sides to be able to escape quickly in the massacres.
“Moldovans — the cult of the grapes. Without a glass of wine did not decide any serious question. Therefore, we have the whole court in the vineyards. Next and a wine cellar where you can taste our house wine,” say the owners.
Gagauz invented huge sheds-outbuildings in almost the entire width of the house. And the entrance to the basement, where products were stored, but they have been from home: laziness — the progress engine.
And Ukrainians are the most fun painted their huts. “See all the houses of Bessarabia whitewashed. A typical Ukrainian hut in the paintings. Both inside and outside” — says Svetlana.
In the houses with authentic furniture and household items, which were collected via advertisements in Newspapers. People learned about the revival of Frumushika, brought things of their ancestors.

LENIN PARK: ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, LENA’S GOING TO COUNT
In Frumusica created the Hill of remembrance — a memorial dedicated to the local villages that were destroyed in 1946 for the needs of the polygon. And next door is the real Stonehenge… from Lenin.
Say, across the Ukraine to the collapse of the Soviet Union, there were 5,500 statues of Lenin. After three waves leninobad and decommunization some pedestals moved here for permanent residence. And while in the capital still only think of founding a Museum of totalitarianism here, near Odessa, has long has its own Museum of socialist realism.
There’s a lot of Lenin — busts, bas-reliefs, pedestals. There are giants, like the last exhibit, 10-foot “leader”, recently brought from Odessa Kulikovo field.
Brezhnev, though not a special historical value (they massively began to produce only in the 60-70-ies), but often come to the Museum in a poor state, because every conjure restorers and sculptors. This files most often have monuments repulsed the head and have sketches to doneprivate.
There are also curiosities, one of the monuments was in Frumusica headless. Apparel and compositions no one could not assume that this is Lenin, that dolayli the head of another revolutionary figure of the Soviet era. As it turned out, the same Director would remake.
There is a bust of Stalin. It literally dug out of the ground. “Somehow it came to me the neighbor — the owner of the brewery, and told that the territory of his enterprise somewhere buried bust of Stalin. Found with metal detectors and here he is a rarity,” — he told us Palariev.
He collects monuments throughout Ukraine and it is not a cult — rather, a condemnation of the era, which, as rink drove his ancestors.
— Statues here 118 or 128, I don’t. On the staircase — 6. Already ordered, soon will bring. We have once a year to invite the sculptor that helps to restore them. Very often the representatives of village councils or factories, where there were monuments call and offer us to pick them up. Buy them at the price of 1000 UAH per meter of height.
Despite the fact that the entrance to the Museum of the Soviet past free, benefits from a businessman there. Soviet symbols and everything connected with them, a great attraction for tourists.
Frumusica is not only Lenin and museums under the open sky, and an inexhaustible source of records for the Guinness book! There are the many sculptures collected in a private Park. The world’s largest granite monument to the shepherd. The monument has already been registered in the National registry of records of Ukraine. The sculpture is of 16.43 meters, and together with the base — about 18 meters. It weighs 1,080 tons. For the manufacture of the record went 150 cubic meters of granite labradorite imported from Zhitomir. So shepherd wasn’t so lonely, it now complement a flock of sheep. Stone.
— And yet, shares the secret of Palariev, soon we will set a new Guinness record. I want the two biggest monument standing nearby. The campaign will be the shepherd of his faithful companion — granite dog guard the flock.
