The UK supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and considers the annexation of Crimea illegal. This was stated by Secretary of the Ministry of defence of the United Kingdom Stephen Lovegrove, the press service of the NSDC.
During the meeting Lovegrove with the Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov, the parties agreed that the Russian is only possible by strengthening sanctions.
He said that Britain concerned about the capacity of Russia’s military power and development of hybrid warfare. The official stressed that the British respect the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
“We recognize that the annexation of Crimea an illegal act. Ukraine is one of our most important strategic partners, we are ready to stand by your country, helping and working with you on all levels,” he added.
In turn, Turchynov said that Ukraine is also interested in cooperation in the format of joint projects in the sector of security and defense in order to resist Russian aggression.
Russia’s actions indicate that she wants to change the architecture of the world, which developed after the Second world war. Russia is waging against Ukraine, hybrid war not only on battlefield but also in the energy, information, economic and other spheres. Sanctions – the only way to stop Russia on the path of growth of militarization and continue their military aggression,” – said the NSDC Secretary.
