President Petro Poroshenko emphasizes the importance of new solutions to change the overall health care system in Ukraine. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.
“New solutions are needed for the health system as a whole. The nation’s health is directly dependent on the state of medicine. I don’t think we need to convince each other that a profound healthcare reform is needed,” the President said at the solemn event on the occasion of Day of medical worker.
According to Petro Poroshenko, the health system, which was inherited from the Soviet Union, and artificially preserved all these years, is absolutely unsuitable to the new social and economic realities.
“We now need a fundamental change. I am convinced that it is from a professional community of physicians will be the most active agents of change, it is no better you can not see all the flaws and inefficiency of the current system,” he said.

The President urged representatives of the professional medical environment, not to remain indifferent, to very carefully study all proposals to the second reading of the draft law was already perfect healthcare reform, which in the short term will allow radically change the situation in the healthcare industry.
“The main idea is to ensure that the quality and availability of medical care was based on the real economic sense to build a solid financial guarantee for the patient and reliable financial assurance for the doctor. Reform must give the doctor the ability to professionally and creatively to work, to receive decent remuneration for their work”, – said Poroshenko.
He called unacceptable the number of applicants for entry into medical schools, which is now. “I am confident that we are the prestige of the medical profession will significantly raise,” he said.
According to him, the patient needs to be guaranteed quality services, and an integral part of the reform should be the reform of medical care in rural areas. The President noted that 30% of the Ukrainian patients living in rural areas, and the level of care there is invalid.
“I have already instructed to prepare a draft law and offered to review it to the Verkhovna Rada as urgent. We have to offer for Ukrainian village modern solutions based on modern telecommunication technology consultation and treatment,” he said and added that the priority should be providing medical transport, together with the construction of roads will significantly improve health security of inhabitants of the Ukrainian village.
Petro Poroshenko noted that on the eve of a professional holiday is a very good opportunity to remind the entire country about the results of the work of doctors: accurate diagnosis, proper treatment regimens, unique operations that annually save thousands and thousands of people, in spite of the situation, which turned out to medicine, lack of funding.
“Particularly pleased today that representatives of the new generation of medicine – best honors students, young professionals, future doctors, nurses, paramedics, who make their first steps in their chosen profession. You to start a professional path in the new reformed system,” he addressed the President.

The President also noted that the Day of the medical worker is one of the few holidays, which I know and remember not only the doctors, but far beyond the professional environment, because their work affects the health and life of each of us.
“You need to love the profession because if you don’t like her, that work – you can’t. I know exactly because of my 18 years with the Marina, who then was the future doctor, every night I went with her to the night shift. Because I really loved and love her. Sometimes we violate the instructions: I used to let her sleep an hour, and he went to make injections performed certain prescriptions of the doctors. And even then realized what a hard but very rewarding work,” – said Petro Poroshenko.
