Trump announced U.S. withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement

US President, Donald trump declared that the United States out of the Paris agreement climate agreement in 2015. During his election campaign last year, trump promised voters to make that decision. This is the BBC.

While trump has said Washington will begin a new negotiation of a climate agreement on terms more equitable and beneficial for the United States.

Trump said that America will be able to achieve the best conditions, and it will help American industry. “This agreement is not so much about climate, but about the fact that other countries benefit at the expense of the United States,” said Donald trump, stressing that the Paris agreement imposes on USA “draconian obligations”.

The President cited the example of China and India, which, according to him, will be able to expand its coal industry, while the United States will have to reduce.
The commitments under the Paris agreement, said Donald trump, would cost the U.S. by 2025, 2.7 million jobs.

In addition, Donald trump lashed out on a Green climate Fund of the UN (GCF), established to assist developing countries in mitigating the effects of climate change and adaptation. According to trump, this Fund will cost the United States billions of dollars in excess of the aid to poor countries, which the US already providing.

The Paris agreement is just the beginning, said trump, in the future it would lead to further attempts on the sovereignty of the United States. “It’s time to get out of the Paris agreement,” said trump.

Critics of the decision claim that it means the refusal of the US to global leadership in solving the largest problems facing the international community.

“Guarantee the future of our children”

Donald trump has repeatedly stated that he does not believe in global warming, and promised to refuse to participate in the Paris agreement during the presidential campaign of 2016.

The Paris agreement includes a commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The document also suggests the allocation by 2020 to developing countries 100 billion dollars to address environmental problems.

Agreement on combating climate change was signed by representatives of more than 170 countries, including the US, China and Russia.

In may, ahead of the summit “Big seven”, the UN Secretary-General, antónio Guterres, called on Donald trump to come out of the Paris climate agreement. According to Guterres, the support of the United States, the largest economy in the world, vital for the implementation of the Paris agreement.

Leaders of the European Union and China have decided to issue a joint statement supporting the Paris agreement as, in their opinion, today it is more important than ever.

In the statement, the draft of which was provided by bi-Bi-si said that climate change adversely affect national security, and social and political stability, while the transition to clean energy creates jobs and promotes economic growth.

“Obviously, this decision is very important, because the United States is the largest economy in the world. However, regardless of the decision of the us government, it is important that all parties remain aware of what is happening,” said bi-Bi-si, antónio Guterres.

“The Paris agreement is vital to our collective future. It is also important to American society, like other societies, the business community, mobilized to preserve the Paris agreement as a guarantee for the future of our children and grandchildren,” said Guterres.

China promises to fulfill its obligations

Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang said that the country will fulfill the obligations prescribed in the Paris agreement. In his speech during a visit to Germany he said that in the interests of China to fight climate change. “China will continue to fulfill its commitments under the Paris agreement, we also hope to cooperate with other countries,” he said.

As a country with a booming, powerful economy China has international responsibilities in the fight against climate change. In 2007, China surpassed the US in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.

Russia will adhere to its obligations, however, indicates that the US withdrawal from the agreement will affect the program. “It is obvious that the effectiveness of agreements on climate change will be reduced by the release of a key party to the agreement”, – said the speaker of the Kremlin.

The refusal of the President trump the agreement was disappointing on the summit “the Big seven”. German Chancellor Angela Merkel described the talks as “difficult, if not unsatisfactory”.

Which would entail the refusal of the US participation in the Paris agreement?

“There is no doubt that if the U.S. withdraws from the agreement, the international community will struggle to achieve your goals. About 15% of carbon dioxide emissions comes from the United States, but the United States are the largest source of funding and technology to developing countries in their fight against consequences of climate change. In addition, there is the question of the moral leadership on this issue, which the US refused, which could have consequences for diplomatic efforts by other countries,” says correspondent Bi-bi-si on environmental issues, Matt McGrath.

Michael Brune, American environmental activist organization “Sierra Club”, believes that the US withdrawal will be a “historic mistake, for which our grandchildren will look back with horror, not understanding how a world leader can be so divorced from reality and the rules of morality.”
