European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker welcomed the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in the Senate of the Netherlands. About it it is spoken in his statement published on the website of the European Commission, transfers “Ukrainian truth”.
“Today’s vote in the Dutch Senate gives an important signal from the Netherlands and the European Union to our Ukrainian friends: the place of Ukraine in Europe. Ukraine’s future is Europe” – said the President of the European Commission.
Juncker thanked the Dutch government and the leadership of other countries for their efforts and expressed the hope that the process of ratification of the Agreement will be completed to the summit Ukraine-EU which will take place in July.
“Our Association Agreement, including Deep and comprehensive free trade area, a step closer to completing ratification. I would like to see what the process will be completed quickly, for the July summit Ukraine-EU,” – said Juncker.
Juncker noted that the Association Agreement has intensified trade between Ukraine and the EU have created new opportunities for the citizens of Ukraine and the Europeans.
“Use the positive momentum from today’s vote, to further strengthen our partnership,” the statement reads.
We will remind, the Senate of the Netherlands (upper chamber of Parliament) voted Tuesday for ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. According to preliminary calculations, 50 deputies voted for the ratification of the agreement, 25 were against it.
Now the instruments of ratification shall transmit the signature of the king of the Netherlands, then send to Brussels.
