The fact that Russia sent to the dispute settlement body of the world trade organization, request for consultations in respect of Ukraine imposed restrictions against the Russian Federation, speaks about the effectiveness of the actions of Kiev. This was stated by the Minister of justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko.
“Our position is very clear: we have the right to make such restrictions and those restrictions relate to national security. If Russian hysteria that their economic rights are violated by the fact that we imposed new sanctions and have blocked part of … which is controlled by the FSB – “Vkontakte”, “Classmates”, that, probably, these sanctions are effective, if Russia is so excited at this action of the Ukrainian authorities”, – said Petrenko.
The head of the Ministry of justice of Ukraine stressed: “Their complaints in the WTO will get a proper legal assessment from the Ukraine as well as members of the WTO.”
He noted that the Ukrainian side will continue the process of blocking a number of sanctioned sites and social networks.
“Ukrainian citizens will live without “Classmates” and “Vkontakte”, and that’s okay with us not going to happen,” said Petrenko.
As reported, on may 20 the Minister of economic development of Russia Maxim Oreshkin said that Russia has sent in the dispute settlement body of the world trade organization, request for consultations in respect of Ukraine introduced restrictions against Russia.
In accordance with the procedures of the WTO, requesting consultations is the first step in filing a claim. Within two months, according to the WTO rules, should be consulted with the government of Ukraine with the aim of finding a mutually acceptable solution to the current situation.
Recall, last week Ukraine extended and expanded sanctions against Russian and foreign citizens, firms and companies. In the updated version of the sanctions list are 1228 people and 648 legal entities.
In addition, were banned and the Russian social network “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”, as well as services Yandex, and Mail.ru.
