Russia deliberately brought the Minsk process to a deadlock, the U.S. must intervene – Klimkin

The US should hold negotiations with Russia, because Russia is deliberately cornered the Minsk process. In an interview with “Voice of America” said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.

“First, the United States must speak with Russia. Russia deliberately cornered the whole Minsk process, and then she just flips upside down. It is clear to everyone. Instead understand that you need to guarantee at least a minimum of security. Because without this, no confidence in the actions of Russia”, – said Klimkin.

In addition, Klimkin said that earlier, during a conversation with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson discussed the liberation of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia.

“We need to take decisive steps (the release of) political prisoners and hostages there (in Russia – ed.). We talked about this with Rex Tillerson in Washington, DC. That is, first the security, and that applies to people, and then you can go further”, – said Klimkin.

Previously Klimkin did not rule out that the United States can join the “channel format”.
