Ukraine and Turkey intend to develop cooperation in the defense sector

Today, may 10, in Kiev the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak met the Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Turkish Republic in Ukraine Ionatom Jan Cetelem, discussed strategic cooperation between Kiev and Ankara. This reports the press service of the defense Ministry of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Poltorak told the Turkish Ambassador about the current situation in the Donbass, and also about the course of reforms in the Ukrainian defense Ministry.

The Minister of defence of Ukraine noted the pace of intensification of cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey in the defense sphere, including in the field of military-technical cooperation.

“Turkey is Ukraine’s strategic partner checked. The Ukrainian side is interested in expanding military cooperation, both bilaterally and on a multilateral basis,” – said Poltorak.

The Ambassador of Turkish Republic in Ukraine, in turn, noted that Ukraine and Turkey are in fact the beginning of a new stage of cooperation in the defense sector.

The Minister of defense of Ukraine expressed his conviction that cooperation between the two countries will increase, and will be based on principles of openness and transparency.

Stepan Poltorak said that Ukraine covers Europe from the million-strong Russian army and it needed the support of the West in this. He noted that NATO countries were not ready for Russian aggression.
