The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was appointed life state scholarships to employees of fire protection of internal Affairs bodies of Ukraine, who participated in extinguishing the fire at Chernobyl on 26 April 1986.
As the press service of the head of state, the corresponding decree the President signed today, April 15.
It is noted that in extinguishing the fire at the 4th reactor of the Chernobyl NPP on 26 April 1986 was attended by 65 members of the fire protection of internal Affairs bodies, 6 of them as a result of radiation incompatible with life, died. The other 59 people received high doses of radiation and become disabled, a disease which is associated with the performance of official duties while extinguishing a fire. 30 years after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant died 17 employees of fire protection of internal Affairs bodies, who participated in extinguishing the fire on the day of the Chernobyl disaster, 5 people left outside Ukraine.
The AP recalled that in 2006, according to the decree of the President of Ukraine, was established by the life state scholarships for military personnel, persons of ordinary and younger commanding structure of bodies of internal Affairs of Ukraine, who participated in extinguishing the fire at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and its protection April 26, 1986, due to significant radiation exposure received disability.
However, in the list of beneficiaries did not include workers, persons of ordinary and commanding structure of fire protection of internal Affairs bodies of Ukraine, who also took part in extinguishing the fire at the Chernobyl NPP on 26 April 1986 and, due to considerable radiation exposure became ill with acute radiation sickness and who have a disability.
Given this, the President signed a decree that stipulates to assign a lifelong state scholarship 22 workers, persons of ordinary and commanding structure of fire protection of internal Affairs bodies of Ukraine, who participated in extinguishing the fire at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant April 26, 1986, in the amount of three minimum subsistence levels for the disabled persons.
