After the resignation of the head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeria Gontareva expected small fluctuations of the dollar. This opinion in comments to “Today,” expressed senior analyst at GK Forex Club Andrey Shevchishin.
“However, in General, we note significant downside risks for the course, not related to the resignation, which can also be implemented,” – said the Shevchishin.
According to him, any change in the Board of the Central Bank, one way or another, has an impact on the situation on the financial market. “Even if no direct influence, then change the established communications within the regulator and between market participants and a new head,” explained Shevchishin.
The expert added that there is a transition period of entering a new leader, building communications.
“It all creates some uncertainty, and leads to fluctuations in the liquidity of the system. In the end, the change in liquidity leads to a change in the situation on the currency market. A small injection of liquidity and the rate can go up, and Vice versa – the withdrawal of liquidity will strengthen the course, and deters speculators. Also requires the building of relationships with creditors. This period is unlikely to rely on lending,” – said the Shevchishin.
Today in the interbank currency market the dollar fell to 5-7 cents. As at 16:00 the auction ended with quotes of 26.88 – 26,93 UAH/USD.
As you know, today, April 10, Gontareva has officially announced his resignation. The statement of Gontareva must be signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, after which it will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada.
Resign Gontareva is may 10, notifying, according to the rules for a month. However, if the Verkhovna Rada voted for the dismissal of the NBU Governor earlier, Gontareva leaves post according to the decision of Parliament.
