Lithuania is ready to explore the possibility of providing Armed forces of Ukraine weapons, but the majority of Soviet ammunition already transferred to Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of defense of Lithuania Raimundas Karoblis at the 10-th Kyiv security forum.
“We really need to look at our Arsenal, because, first of all, we need weapons. Those supplies that we provided for 2016 in the form of the Soviet type of weapons concerned ammunition and heavy machine guns, which really was not so necessary for the Lithuanian defense”, – said Karoblis.
According to him, it is necessary to look at the opportunities of Lithuania, because “most of that kind of inventory we have already passed (Ukraine – Ed.)”.
“But we are ready to examine this issue in more detail,” the Minister added.
We will remind, the Lithuanian intelligence warns about possible provocations during planned in September military exercises of Russia and Belarus.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarusian-Russian exercises “West-2017” will be defensive only, they will be able to observe representatives of NATO.
