The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has thanked the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy for the support of the Ukrainian footballer Roman Zozulya who plays for the Spanish team Betis. This they said during a meeting in Malta, reports the press service of the head of state.
The President also expressed his gratitude to the Spanish government for a clear position in support of the Ukrainian footballer Roman Zozulya.
Poroshenko noted that the situation with the Novel is the result of a carefully planned propaganda campaign in the spirit of the hybrid war of Russia against Ukraine.
In turn, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin previously stated: “We know perfectly well that what was there organized, is a deliberate provocation, when a few ultras left direction is absolutely cynically used. In General, the football community of Spain has a totally different opinion.”
We will remind, the football player came to Rayo Vallecano in a t-shirt with the emblem of Ukraine. The Spanish press called him a Nazi. The newspaper later apologized, but fans were not satisfied and even hung a banner that Zozulya was cleaned off. In the result, “Rayo Vallecano” has decided to cancel the lease of a football player and brought him back to Betis, but because of legal technicalities Zozulya can’t speak for any of the clubs.
