Scientists have found a natural mechanism slowing down aging.

Scientists from the USA found a possible explanation for the circadian rhythms of a person, in particular, need to sleep at night and stay awake during the day.

Their research, they published in the Nature Communications magazine, briefly about it, reports the University of Oregon.

During the experiments scientists have discovered at least 25 genes that are associated with circadian rhythms, with increased activity in adulthood. The reason for this the scientists saw in their protective functions, manifested in slowing down the aging process.

How scientists discovered genes are associated with response to, for example, cellular and molecular damage and oxidative stress. Activation of genes to prevent the processes that lead to the development of age-related neurodegeneration.

Despite the fact that the scientists conducted experiments on fruit flies, their findings hold true for humans. This is due to the fact that the biological processes responsible for circadian rhythms in fruit flies and is controlled by a similar group of genes, the study says.
