Now almost everyone in the country uses credit cards. However, with the development of electronic technology and evolving methods of fraud. Attackers are constantly looking for new ways how to steal money from people via credit cards.
For example, the mobile phone of the card holder receives an SMS message stating that his account is blocked. Then the call comes, the caller named a Bank employee informs the citizens, saying that he is the representative of security service of Bank. Reports that the card someone was trying to withdraw money and it was blocked. To unlock, you need to verify some personal information, in particular pin and mother’s maiden name. If the person provides this information, the scammers get access to the account and withdraw all the money of the victim.
A poet not to become a victim of fraud, police in Cherkasy region recommends to observe the following tips:
- never make any decisions during or immediately after the telephone call, a stranger
- do not share any personal information about you and your Bank card, because the Bank employees will never call customers and ask them the pin numbers, passwords and other sensitive data
- ask the caller to introduce themselves with titles. Call the Bank, find out if they have such an employee.
- visit the nearest office of your Bank and tell them the situation. Inform the police about a possible fraud. If the conversation called any names of relatives, acquaintances or friends, make sure you call them.
Also the scammers prey for their victims and on the streets. Citizens, especially retirees, often in wallets stored together with the map pin of your card, trust her to strangers, telling them in a mysterious code, to withdraw funds from the accounts and not pay attention to others and how it looks ATM, not if it contains extraneous devices.
