NATO Secretary General supported the sanctions against Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed support for sanctions against Russia. He stated this today at a press conference.

“These decisions were taken not NATO, but I welcome these decisions and support them,” said Stoltenberg, answering a request to comment on the situation with sanctions against Russia after coming to power, the new administration in Washington.

“Sanctions are the actions of the US, EU and other countries on Russia’s aggressive actions against Ukraine”, – said Stoltenberg.

We will remind, according to the White house, a telephone conversation between the presidents of the United States and Russia Donald trump, and Vladimir Putin was an important beginning for improving relations between the two countries. “A good conversation has become an important starting step towards improving relations between the US and Russia that need to be corrected,” reads a press release from the White house.

“The conversation lasted about an hour, revolved around topics related to mutual cooperation in the fight against “Islamic state”, as well as efforts to achieve peace, including the situation in Syria,” – said in a statement. Trump and Putin hope that the parties will be able to move quickly to combat terrorism and other important issues of mutual interest.

However, the press Secretary of the White house Sean Spicer reported that Putin and trump wasn’t talking about the lifting of sanctions.
