Switzerland allocates $ 100 million of financial assistance to Ukraine – Poroshenko

Switzerland until the end of January this year, will give 100 million U.S. dollars in the first tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine, said President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“It was decided that we just announced that before the end of January, Ukraine will receive $ 100 million. They will go to the accounts of the national Bank in the form of financial assistance from the Swiss Confederation as the first part of the tranche, aimed at supporting Ukraine”, – said Poroshenko reporters in Davos after talks with President of the Swiss Confederation, Doris Leuthard.

The Ukrainian head of state reported that during the talks with President of Switzerland discussed the current state of bilateral relations and Ukraine’s success on the way for significant reforms.

“We noted that on 6 February, when Ukraine and Switzerland will celebrate the 25th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, we come not with empty hands. Switzerland acknowledged the obvious progress of Ukraine on the reforms,” said Poroshenko.

Separately, he said, was the effectiveness of the fight against corruption in different areas, and the steps of the Ukrainian side to stabilize the banking system.

“In addition, we agreed to accelerate joint efforts to investigate the crimes of the previous government. As for those frozen assets in Swiss banks, which are now there, we defined clear timelines and coordination of cooperation of the ministries of justice and Prosecutor General’s office, which should quickly lead to a specific result return of these assets to Ukraine”, – said the President.
