Poland and the Czech Republic want to hold the winter Olympics 2030

Poland and the Czech Republic may submit a joint bid to host the winter Olympic and Paralympic games in 2030, according to Polish newspaper Przeglad Sportowy.

Previously bid to host the Games was submitted to the Polish Zakopane (Olympics 2006), but the choice was made in favor of Turin. In addition, the Polish Krakow claimed the Games in 2022, but withdrew its application after the referendum.

“It’s true, it’s time to assert our plans. We can hold the competition in Szklarska poręba, Karpacz, Elena Gora, Szczyrk (Poland), as well as in Harrachov, Spindleruv-Mlyn, male UPA, PEC pod sněžkou, Liberec and Prague (Czech Republic). The opening ceremony could take place in Wroclaw, Poland, and the venue of the closing ceremony will be determined later,” – said the representative of the Polish authorities Tomasz Stanek.

Earlier, the Olympic games have never been held in two countries. Poland and the Czech Republic intend to convince the IOC due to the low budget of the application.
