Ukraine has spent almost a quarter of “winter” gas reserves

Ukraine since the beginning launched on 13 October the heating season through January 8, 2017, reduced the reserves of natural gas in underground storage (UGS) by 22.2%, i.e. by 3.3 billion cubic meters – up to 11,459 billion cubic meters. m this was reported in “Ukrtransgaz”.

January 8, the selection was 86,33 million cubic meters, and for 1-8 January – 533,38 million cubic meters (average of 66.67 million cubic meters/day).

In December of 2016 from storage were selected 1 billion 568,64 million cubic meters (average of 50.6 million cubic meters/day), in November – 909,42 million cubic meters (30,31 million cubic meters/day).

At the same time Ukraine in the frosty days of January, despite predictions, hasn’t exceeded the daily withdrawal from storage facilities in the amount of 100 million cubic meters, although technologically possible rise of about 1% of existing inventory. The maximum of this year was reached on January 7 – 89,65 million cubic meters, the report said.

Taking into account the most probable temperature regimes in the remaining days of January, Ukraine will be included in the February gas reserves from 9.4 to 10.1 billion cubic metres, predicts “Ukrtransgaz”.

Gas transit through Ukraine’s GTS on the results 1-8 of January it amounted to 2 billion 144,39 million cubic meters, which corresponds to a monthly rate of about 8.3 billion cubic meters.

Recall that the selection of gas from storage a year ago – January 8, 2016 – was made up 109.58 million cubic meters with reserves of 12.9 billion cubic meters, and two years ago – January 8, 2015 – 92,37 million cubic meters in reserves 10,79 billion cubic meters.

As you know, the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” is considered formed in the underground storage of gas reserves sufficient for passage of the heating season, despite the fact that the government of Ukraine demanded to accumulate in UGS more than 17 billion cubic meters of gas.

According to the calculations, the NAK at the end of the heating season in the vaults will still be 7-8 billion cubic meters with an acceptable value of 5 billion cubic meters of the Ukrainian hydrometeorological center predicts that the heating season, from the point of view of the temperature conditions in Ukraine lasts 160-180 days.
