Russia applied in Syria “scorched earth” – the Director of the CIA

The use of Russian tactics of “scorched earth” in Syria led to civilian casualties.

This was stated by CIA Director John Brennan in an interview with PBS television.

During the interview, Brennan answered the question, could be the situation in Syria better, if the United States intervened in the conflict.

According to him, “nobody could have foreseen what happened in Syria.” Brennan noted that, if it were possible to change events, not only the US but other countries should take action in order “to thwart ISIS, “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra” and “al-Qaeda” to gain strength”.

Brennan also said that Russia “took all opposition terrorists”. “And so they took these bold and, I think, reckless military action, which led to the deaths of so many Syrians,” said Brennan.

According to the head of the CIA, Russia’s actions in Syria “to some extent” can be called “scorched earth”, which led to the destruction and thousands of innocent deaths. “It’s not something that the United States would ever do in any of these military conflicts,” said Brennan.

As reported, the Russian Federation used in Syria, carrier-based aircraft and cruise missiles. The defense Ministry and Russian media have repeatedly published on the YouTube videos with the carpet bombing of Syria.
